Pinnacle bikes: latest reviews and buying advice
Pinnacle is the own brand of British bicycle retailer Evans Cycles. Started in 2006, Pinnacle is now a well-established manufacturer of urban, hybrid and cyclocross bicycles.

Pinnacle road bikes
For road cyclists, there a few models on offer: Laterite, Pyrolite, Arkose and Dolomite.
At entry-level, there’s the Pinnacle Laterite range, which is a great value road bike with aluminium frame and carbon fork, and Shimano groupsets ranging from Tourney to 105. It comes with mudguard and rack fittings and suits anyone getting into road cycling in all weathers.
If you’re taking on the worst surfaces that roads have to offer, then the Pyrolite may be your next choice. It comes equipped with 650b wheels and WTB Horizon Comp 650x47c tires, providing you with all the grip and cushioning you need. Throw in a pair of mechanical disc brakes and you’ve got an amazing commuter road bike.
If gravel is more your thing, then look no further than the Pinnacle Arkose range. These drop-bar bikes come with a slightly longer wheelbase and clearance for bigger tires, so they’re perfect all-rounders that will take you anywhere.
Pinnacle mountain bikes
For mountain bikers there isn’t a lot to choose from currently, but that’s just because Pinnacle’s raison d’etre is to encourage new cyclists to the sport.
Its Kapur mountain bike range is limited, but covers a lot of areas. Whether you’re using it for commuting or light trail-riding, it’s a versatile hardtail with 120mm travel in the front and confidence-inspiring geometry
Other Pinnacle bikes
For commuters, there are four models to choose from: Cobalt, Lithium, Chromium and Californium.
The Cobalt is a mountain-hybrid, with a short-travel suspension fork and hydraulic disc brakes for superior stopping power. It’s great value for money and ideal for comfortable commuting mixed with a bit of off-roading.
The Lithium is a more run-of-the-mill hybrid that comes with a wide range of gears, huge tire clearance and fittings for mudguards and a rack.
The Chromium is ready to go, and comes already equipped with mudguards. Its swept-back handlebars provide a natural riding position and its 650b wheels with large tires make for a very comfortable ride.
Finally, the Californium is a simple and low-maintenance step-through town bike. It looks great, is easy to manoeuvre and even comes with a mounted basket.
