Endura Pro SL road cycling helmet

Our review

Endura’s Pro SL has become my new favourite helmet
Pros: Great quality and comfort; Koroyd protection
Cons: Warm on very hot days

Building on Endura’s flagship MT500 mountain bike helmet, the Pro SL brings Koroyd’s impact-absorption protection to the road in a premium helmet.

The Pro SL’s Koroyd core is a welded polymer structure, with honeycomb-like tubes inside the polystyrene. These are designed to “crumple instantly and consistently on impact, absorbing maximum force in a controlled manner… helping to protect your brain from direct and angled impacts, which may reduce the risk of suffering a life-changing injury”.

Plush padding inside the helmet ensures that these tubes don’t touch your scalp.

The inner cradle can be adjusted vertically while a ratcheted rear dial handles fit. It has 10 large vents; the Koroyd tubes slightly reduce air flow, which is only an issue on hot days.

My M/L model weighs 245g (M/L), which is 35g heavier than the Genesis Lazer I also had on test but it’s not noticeable.

An area where the Endura scores highly is its hardshell. One section of tough, polycarbonate shell wraps around the upper part, while a second layer neatly envelopes the lower part to protect it from knocks. The result is that, after months of use, this helmet looks as good as new.

The superbly comfortable Pro SL comes with Endura’s 90-day satisfaction guarantee and is covered by Endura’s crash replacement policy, allowing you to get a new helmet at half price.

One final feature I really like is the front eyewear dock’s slots for sliding the arms of your cycling sunglasses into. Designed to hold your glasses secure, they seem to work well with most brands’ products.
